How to Choose a Red Light Panel: 9 Things to Check Before You Buy
Listings for red light panels often lead with one big number. A better way to compare is to check the same nine things on every panel. Here they are, with the way MARS 400 answers each one.
- Which wavelengths? Look for stated bands such as 660 nm and 850 nm, and for how many LEDs there are of each. MARS 400 has 30 LEDs at 660 nm and 30 at 850 nm.
- What irradiance, and at what distance? A figure in mW/cm² tells you little unless you know the distance it was measured at. For MARS 400 the specification gives 130 mW/cm² or more at 15 cm.
- What does the power rating describe? MARS 400 lists 82 W nominal power. That rating does not demonstrate measured wall consumption or the amount of light you receive.
- Which controls and session limit? MARS 400 has side buttons for Red, NIR or both, with a continuous or pulse setting. Keep to one standard 10-minute cycle and do not restart the timer to extend it.
