Red Light Panel or LED Face Mask: Which Format Suits You?
A panel is placed and aimed, a mask is worn. Both are consumer products that give off red and near-infrared light, and what separates them is the format. This guide compares the two on the things you notice in daily use.
Coverage
A mask is shaped for the face. A panel is aimed at a chosen area; for MARS 400 that may be the face or neck. Choose the area before the session and keep to one standard cycle rather than restarting to cover more areas.
Set-up
Follow the setup instructions for the exact model. MARS 400 stands separately on its attached tabletop support, with clear vents and the original matching power accessories. Start about 30 cm from the LED face and put on the supplied glasses before starting the light.
Comfort
A mask has to fit your face and sit comfortably for the whole session. A panel asks nothing of your face: you sit or stand at the right distance and let the timer run. Which of the two feels easier is personal.
Eye protection
Read the eye instructions for each model. MARS 400 requires its supplied protective glasses throughout every session, including NIR-only use, and you must never stare into the LEDs. Closed eyes and ordinary sunglasses do not replace them.
Space and storage
Compare the actual storage and setup space for each product. MARS 400 needs a stable tabletop, room for its stand, ventilation and your starting distance. Ask us to confirm panel and stand measurements before ordering for a small space; its listed panel weight is 2.6 kg.
Questions that decide it
- Do you want to cover only the face, or other areas as well?
- Do you have a stable spot where a panel can stay at the right distance?
- Would you rather wear something, or place something?
- Are you happy with a routine that includes glasses and a timer?
Quick answers
Is a panel stronger than a mask?
You cannot compare formats by the headline power. Compare the irradiance at the stated distance for each product, as the guide to reading the specifications explains.
Can one replace the other?
They are different formats for similar light.
